Dr Joy (1)

Dr. Carol E. Joy

Veterinarian and Medical Director

Dr. Joy has been an integral member of the Roadside Veterinary Clinic family since 2004. She graduated from the University of Findlay, Findlay, Ohio in 1998, with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in biology and pre-veterinary medicine and a minor in chemistry. Dr. Joy graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003.

Dr. Joy’s medical practice focuses on the health and well-being of cats and dogs with a particular interest in internal medicine. She enjoys the daily interactions with animal owners and their beloved pets.  She welcomes new pet families, while maintaining long-standing relationships with many pet families in our community.  Dr. Joy believes in working collaboratively with pet owners to maintain their pets’ well-being.  She consistently provides pet education and understanding for pet owners.

In addition to providing medical care for pets, she also serves as the medical director for the clinic. As medical director, Dr. Joy focuses on continuing education for herself and her team in order to maintain high medical standards. In 2024, the team at Roadside Veterinary Clinic achieved AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) accreditation. To earn this accreditation, a hospital must meet or exceed over 900 standards across 18 areas of medical operations. Dr. Joy also oversaw the adoption of the use of AI technology for the transcription of medical records. This technology allows our team to give their full attention to our clients and their pets while maintaining a complete medical record. Since joining Roadside Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Joy has grown the practice from a one doctor to a three-doctor practice and expanded services to include pet care for reptiles and small mammals such as rabbits, guinea pigs and other small pocket pets. Dr. Joy looks to continue to grow the practice by bringing in new technologies and services.

Dr. Joy was born and raised in Plymouth, Michigan.  She has lived in the Highland/Milford area for the past 10 years.  Dr. Joy and her husband, Daniel, have four active children ranging in age from 20 years old down to 3 years old. You may find her out in the community supporting her children at Huron Valley Marching Band activities, Huron Valley colorguard competitions and Milford Highschool soccer games. She and Daniel enjoy live music and traveling. Her family has a menagerie of pets including 3 dogs (Moxie: Swedish Valhund, Dirk: English Bulldog, Vaquerito: Chihuahua), 2 cats and several pocket pets.
